Question Missing Cylinders

I have been having major smoke issues, and been feeling a bit sluggish(ever scince i bought it, it seemes a little slow for a supra, i know becasue i have driven my dads) Well, u was putting in my 8mm wires today and found out that the last two cylinders werent't even connected! could that have beent he smoking problem? i figure it is the reason for the los of power...fill me in on what negative effects i could hve been ezperienceing. i would test it out , but my clutch is out. . keep it going!

Re: Missing Cylinders

Same thing happenned to me and I took it as one of my signs that the head gasket had went bad. I ended up replacing the cap and rotor and the plug wires and plugs but still had a major smoking problem. I would say check your coolant color and makes sure it isn't brown. Also check you engine oil , first for color and then smell. The color shouldn't be grayish and it shouldn't smell sweet. I bet it will smell like gas because a misfireing cylinder will still get gas and that gas will leak through to the oil pan and/or out the exhaust. Hopefully it is just simple bad wires because changing the head gasket will be more exspensive and a lot ( I MEAN THIS ) more time consuming.

umm...your supras screwed yo...if theres oil sitting on any of the cylinders...you will more than likely be needing a rebuild. same for the coolant issue...cause there is probably oil and coolant in that cylinder. if you were driving it w/o those cylinders firing you couldve screwed up the motor pretty bad.
oh well, now you have an excuse to drop some forged pistons and rods and drag race rings and all kindsa other goodies to prep for major boost! lol

Re: Missing Cylinders

He said oil and coolant in the valley, not the cylinder, big difference. Like I already told you, valve cover gaskets and a leaky coolant hose probably from the TB or somewhere around it.
