J30 Vs. Z3

I will admit, i race... not very often but when i see something that i want to go up against, i'll roll down my window and give them the thumbs up...

Well i was out on hillcrest and pulled up to the light at grelot. A Beemer Z3 was beside me (it was dark, so i couldn't exactly tell it was this) he revvs... some kid borrowing his dad's car. I laugh and go "alright sure" i'm running basically stock j30 93 model with the resister mod to boost a lil hp. The z3 looked stock too.

Anyway, we get going, and i'm in an auto car. He's standard, and i was a car length away from him by the time he went into third... He wasn't shifting fast enough, nor was really knowing what he was doing, so i get to the next light and he lost by a car length... He was like "man your fast, What kind of car is that?"
I turned my system down and went 'a j30... yours?"
"z3"

he turned right.

i dunno if it counts as a win... but i really enjoyed saying i beat a z3.

Re: J30 Vs. Z3

If it was the Z3 with the 2.5liter then I'm not suprised, those things are fairly slow compared to some o the other ones. Now then the Z3 or Z4 with the 3.0, thats another story altogether. Of course, I'm all up for sticking in the 3.2 in the Z, but they already did it, and called it the ///M Coup.

Oh, and for future reference, if it as 4 wheels, its a Bimmer. If it has two wheels, its a Beemer/Beamer.

Well, they're basically Maximas, and they're not too bad to mod. The VG30E is the same engine as in the older (pre-1989) 300ZX. I happen to have one, actually... but in 1992 they changed it out for the VQ30E, a DOHC version of the same engine, puttin' down 190hp and 190lb-ft torque. Not a bad engine, in a car that isn't bad either.
