NG model Shift Knobs???

Hello, I had a question about the shift knob of my SAAB. I was wanting to buy a custom knob made by MOMO and I noticed that the shift knob on the 900 is made differently like the leather covering and the part under the knob that you hold up to go in reverse.

I was wondering, is there a way you can remove the shift knob and screw in a new one or does it not work that way? Advice would be very helpful, thank you.

Unfortunately, unless someone makes an aftermarket shift knob specifically made for a Saab, you're out of luck. To remove the shift knob from an NG900, you have to literally hacksaw the old knob off. That is how I upgraded from the stock "rubber" knob to a Saab leather knob on my 95 900S shortly after I bought it. The knobs are glued on with 2-part epoxy....NOT threaded like on most cars. And, as you mention, there's the reverse lockout to consider on top of that.
