Re: does anyone know anything about supercharging or turbocharging a 3100 engine
first of all, you should know that supercharging or turbocharging an engine made for natural aspiration isnt as simple as boltin it on. I dont believe there are any turbo kits on the market for 3100 vehicles , and although you could probably find a supercharger for a 3100 grand prix, however i would not recomend it. Along with the supercharger a new fuel pump, piston heads, more vaccume lines, reprogrammed pcm, diff compression ratio, and a stronger lower end would probably be necisarry if you want to safely run it on a naturally aspirated engie. The major problem with modding 3100 vehicles for performance is that GM generally assumes that people who want a higher performance vehicle would buy a 3800, so the 3100s are generally ill-prepared for performance modification.

yeah i already knew it would be A LOT of work I just like the project. I helped out with my B/f's he put a supercharger on a taurus and they don't make anything for a taurus so there was a lot of fabricating. I am putting duals on the car in a few week and i am going to be doing to porting and some other little thing in a couple of weeks when i go on vacation.

i honestly think it might be cheaper if you sold your 3100 and bought a gtp. If you look hard enough you can find 98s for a little over 5g, or a 99(slight improvements from 98, but none hugely significant) for around 7g, both come stock w/ 240hp (98 slightly less)
