New Starter install...now it will not start...

Help....I just replaced/installed a new starter on my mom's 96 GA 2.4 manual and now it will not start. I have read thru the posts and have followed the directions I have seen and here it what I know:

1. Checked all electrical connections including grounding-all appears good
2. PassLock test-left key in "on" pos. for 10 min. +/-, then off, then on, then off again like dealership said to do. No luck. lights on dash before and after this are the same: Battery, Check engine & Anti-theft stay on, no matter what.
3. Located Fuel Relay & "key on" tested it with my hand for clicking - 2 clicks consistantly each time I tried. Not sure what this means. thought it should continue to click.
4. Crawled under rear of car and had my wife "key on" several times so that I could listen to pump. pump comes on and runs for 2.5 seconds then stops, every time we tried this.
5. Car is full of gas.
6. Every fuse appears normal under the hood (by the battery) and inside the car at the fuse panel on drivers side dash end/door jam.

The car turns over just fine without a hint of starting.
Please help me as I, and the Chilton manual, have run out of ideas for testing. I guess it could be the Anti-theft or even ignition, if anyone thinks this I would love to hear a procedure for testing.

thanks.

The anti-theft light blinks when its "set off"(at least mine does ) FOrgive me for asking a dumb question, but better get it out the way... You are pressing down on the clutch when trying to turn it over arn't you???

IF so, I'd check the clutch saftey switch wires to make sure they didn't get disconnected and have power down both wires when the pedal is down.

Good luck:

Re: New Starter install...now it will not start...

Check for spark, I can only assume the fuel filter isn't clogged and the relay clicking on and then off (2 clicks) when it primes the fuel system so I'm assuming you got fuel flow. Also check for fuel injector pulsing. I forget which system the passlock disables when triggered but it's either fuel or spark, the vehicle will still turn over. With all I read and my assumption that it ran perfect before the starter gave way (and that you didn't replace a working starter) my guess is your having passlock problems.
