Unhappy 2wd Vs 4wd

Just bought a 1977 Chevy Suburban 4x4 from a friend. I also have a 86 2WD Suburban. What I want to do is swap engines and trannys from the 86 thats has a 350 into the 77 that has a 305 thats way tired!! Is this gonna be possable? There both small blocks so the bolt pattern should be the same right? Engine mounts same? What about the trannys will I need a conversion kit? Thanks for any info you can give.

Chuck

Re: 2wd Vs 4wd

Assuming you have the same tranny in both, should be an easy swap. If you don't you may need some adapters to mount the tranny, new mounts to move the transfer case, and new driveshafts. I'm guessing, however, that both have th350 trannys, making it a direct swap.
