92 SE won't idle after trip to jiffylube
I went to jiffy lube and got an oil change, new serpentine belt and a new air filter. When they were done putting the parts on my car wouldn't idle. Of course the car ran fine when I brought it in. The manager told me my car had a fuel problem (developed during the 15minutes it was in thier garage) and was not caused by anything they did and told me to go pound sand. I'm almost positive they bumped a sensor while changing the belt. Anyone have any ideas on what the problems could be?
P.S. - beware of the JiffyLube in Easton, PA, very poor customer service. |

the best thing for you to do is take it back to them and nicely ask them to fix what they did if they don't file a law suit against them

It dosen't seem like the Lube joint wants to help you.

I nicely asked him to fix what had been broken but he told my quite bluntly that it was not his problem. He said it was a coicendence my car didn't idle correctly after they worked on it. Too bad I didn't pay with a check, it could of been a coicendence when the check was canceled.
No service engine soon light has come on. I am able to drive it now with the idle turned up but I know it isn't the root of the problem. I have replaced the crank sensor on this car before. I keep getting the feeling that it is a sensor problem, maybe the cam sensor? Has anyone ever heard of a problem like this before? |

Re: 92 SE won't idle after trip to jiffylube
I'm not too sure the cam sensor is the culprit. I would think this would make it run very poorly while driving not just at idle. Let's see:
Fuel: Have you checked the fuel pressure at idle? Should be about 40 PSI Spark: Since it is drivable, I wouldn't suspect it Air: The idle is not manually adjustable on the 3800 motors. The PCM tells the IAC to open or close to maintain a steady idle. Look here for a more detailed description |

I would go directly to the Jiffy Lube Franchisor with a complaint if you don't get satisfaction. Also there are consumer advocates which may be able to help.
