Evo motor in dsm?

Is it possible to swap a evo motor in a gs/gst/rs/gsx? Has anyone here done it or know anyone that has done it?

Re: Evo motor in dsm?

They are the same motor, so that would be just plain silly to do that swap =P

Re: Evo motor in dsm?

I know they're the same motor.. same code.. but I was just wondering maybe it came with better engine parts, internals..valve train and tranny/clutch.

Basically, where's the extra power coming from?

Re: Evo motor in dsm?

Its amazing how much you can change power just by changing the boost. I laugh when people swap a US 4g63 for a "JDM" or evo 3 or whatever 4g63. Just add a few psi and you get the same power And it would have to be a EVO3 or earlier if you expect to just drop it in. After that they sit backwards and spin the wrong way.

Valve trains are the same, but the cams can differ slightly through the years. Clutch should be a new aftermarket unit if you are in there anyway. Stock us motors take more power than most people know how/can afford to make.

Re: Evo motor in dsm?

Yeah, the EVO motors are probably better in a lot of ways. Why would you spend $5000 swapping a stock EVO motor, when you could spend $2000 and buy aftermarket parts that are way better? Doesn't make any sense to me.

Re: Evo motor in dsm?

He's right, swapping the same motor would be a waste of money, especially if you can upgrade everything inside it for half the price. Evos have the same engine, theyre faster because of bigger turbos.
