lost ignition key!

kids have a 92 we use for a utility vehicle around the farm. lost the ignition key. considering drilling out the center with a 1/4 inch carbide bit, picking out the pieces and jusst using it as an on off switch. anyone removed the ignition lock before? does it sound like this would work? if i pull the lock barrel out will i be able to just rotate the outer part?

If you take the vin to the dealership they can cut you a new key as long as you haven't changed the cylinder before.

Re: lost ignition key!

Your solution will work on this car. Car theives use a slide hammer to pull the lock cylinder out and then you can start it with a screwdriver.
