I am in the market for a jack and jack stands so that I can start doing work on my vehicles myself.
The heaviest vehicle for the jack and stands would be a Suburban. What weight rating would hold a 'burb? My first thought is a 3-ton jack since total weight is usually under 6,000 lbs. But if I am not supporting the whole vehicle at once, will 2 or 2 1/2 ton stands do? I don't have a 'burb yet but am currently putting our Windstar up for sale. Thanks Roger |

We have Norco jacks at the shop. 2ton heavy duty. Very nice piece. You can get them delivered for $350.
Or just go to Sears when the jacks are on sale. $99 with stands.
