?car dies while moving?
89 turbo mk3,
i installed a blitz bov like 3 days before, when i first installed it, it ran nicely with a good pssshhhh, no car stalling or anything so i assumed it was running good. problem is i left car for 4 days after, and when i tried to start it at like 5 pm, it cranked but wouldn't start. kept trying for like 10, 15 minuntes and it started. i think the fuel wasn't coming in or something. i drove it for like a tenth of a mile and it died at a stop light. pushed it aside, cranked but wouldn't start again until like the 9th time trying. drove it a little bit, turned a corner and died while turning. pushed it into a parking lot and later towed it back to my house. i am almost certain that the reason why the car died while moving and at a stoplight was the bov because of the boost venting to air, but it was running fine a few days before. and since the car wouldn't start, i was worried that it might be something else and not the bov. anyone with any thoughts on this? thanks for listening. |

Have a look in your spark plug valley, i've just had the same problem with a 90 mkiii. If you've got oil in the valley then it could be arc ing the spark to the engine and earthing out. If you have, strip off the throttle housing and soak up the oil with some rag or tissue, then you'll need to replace the valve cover gaskets to stop more oil getting in there.
Hope thats of some help |
