Re: gsr vs. type r engines

The type R engine has Ported n Polished Heads, diff.Intake Manifold, Higher Compression Pistons, Larger Cams. Type R also has a pricey differential

Re: gsr vs. type r engines

ITR: 20 more hp, 8 more tq, higher compression (10.6:1 vs 11.1:1), better flowing intake manifold, better flowing head, lower geared tranny, wilder cam. For All Motor +, for Turbo - (without work of course).

Re: gsr vs. type r engines

I don't think you can get a brand new one unless you buy it from honda. My reason for saying this is, they don't make either car anymore. Keep in mind, you might be able to get brand new rebuilt B-series engines from companies like Spoon, but they will be costly.

Also, (pertaining to discusion between the gsr and type r) Type R has a much better suspension, less weight, and a high insurance rate to match the high theft rate. As a whole, the type r is better, but if your just getting the engines, I would go with the b18c1 (gsr)

Re: gsr vs. type r engines

you could probably buy a spoon B18C5 for what it would cost from honda.

Re: gsr vs. type r engines

Actually GSR's have 10.0:1 compression
Type R's have 10.6:1
Civic Type R has 11.0:1

Re: gsr vs. type r engines

I thought the CTR had the highest comp?

Also, a Spoon engine is around $7k! But in there defense, they are the best! At least in my opinion.

Re: gsr vs. type r engines

they are good for what they are for, but if your going down the 1/4 and not a real track then 7k can be spent much smarter. plus have you ever priced parts from honda new, I got a quotew once for a k24 short block and a K20 head and it was gonna be like 4-5 G's cant remember exactly but it was STEEP

Re: gsr vs. type r engines

i saw a b18c5 motor from spoon set up at www.inlinefour.com for around 6k. It locate in oc. The price is too much. An itr motor is the best h motor, i think. I guess imma save some money and get a turbo, change to stick, and with a used metal itr conversion, then get a paint job at www.mobworks.com. Will that add up to 5k?
