Stock intake resonator
A friend of mine just installed a short-ram intake. He took out the stock box but left the U-shaped tube and the resonator behind the bumper. His worry is that without that, fresh air won't be directed into the new intake, so it will just be sucking up hot engine air. By leaving the old parts in there, air will at least get forced through and the tubes are right under the cone intake so the air should go right in. That never occurred to me, but I wonder if maybe he's right? I really couldn't come up with a reason to take the old tubes out except that it looks cleaner, and he doesn't care about that. But if it helps the intake get colder air, maybe it's better to leave it on?
