Another RX-7 (in progress)

Well I ran out of paper and I somehow need to salvage my wheels...

Re: Another RX-7 (in progress)

MBTN,

great drawing, it's just the wheels. They slant in opposite directions. also, the back one seems flat.

Great shading and use of dark tones. I would suggest taking a piece of tissue, or a tort or stump to smooth out the mid/light tones, unless you want to keep the "sketchy" look.

Great shading, looks really good. Shame about the paper shortage.

based on the reference pic, the front wheel is fine (it's also turned a little). The rear wheel on the other hand...

Re: Another RX-7 (in progress)

If the front wheel was like that on the ref pic, somat is wrong with the car, lol. Anywho, the shortest diameter of the ellipse is meant to follow the width of the car if you get what i mean. Great shading, love the contrast. You could maybe smoothen it out as alex said.

Keep up the good work!

yah, frotn wheel should be rounder and back wheel needs fixin...dont worry about running out of paper, sometimes it looks more artistic...

that's an excellant ref. pic...

invest in a stump or tort, and your drawing will be improved greatly.

the front light is off and i think the roof/windsheild goes up too high.

pretty good.

Re: Another RX-7 (in progress)

What's a "stump" and "tort"?

a tort is rolled up paper...not for hash

and a stump is a solid piece of hard paper or something...it's in the shading tut...

they smooth out shading and make things look much cleaner.

Re: Another RX-7 (in progress)

you need knowledge of perspective in order to intuitively eyeball or template elipses convincingly. i always say this to many on here, but it seems nobody listens to me, as if i'm being a ninny. maybe you will listen.

i'm not as impressed with rendering as i am with technical foundation. like gomango. he doesn't offer rendered cars, but he "gets it." more people should follow his example. clean lines, and his stuff is generally in correct planes of perspective. he just makes it look easy.

Re: Another RX-7 (in progress)

I'm just starting and haven't read everything on perspective yet, but I will check things out. It's been YEARS since I've sat down and drawn anything.

Really what I'm saying is:
I just want to do it based off my eye. It doesn't need to be perfect. I want it to be rough. The ladies love it that way
