I have a 1999 Passat with the turbo 1.8, the interior lights will not come on. I have checked all the fuses near the driver door and they are all good. The dashboard lights are all working.
Any idea's? Somebody said it may be the auto dimmer switch for when the door closes, but I have been unable to locate it. Please help. Thanks, |

Re: 1999 Passat Interior Lights Broken!!
If all the lights (F & R interior, reading, make-up mirror, luggage compartment & door entry) are not working with any door or switch then check fuse 14 (10 Amp). If it's okay then I would start worrying about the comfort system central control module (under the driver's seat).

Hahahah...
the comfort control module is located under the drivers footwell. Passats have alot of problems (up to 2002) where water from battery tray area drains into driver side floor because the drain plugs are clogged (under battery, under brake booster, and under fuse bracket where ecm located) and water is drained through emergency drain hole ever so convienently located on the firewall so water will drain into cabin, not engine bay. The wires corrode and rust. and the control module internally shorts on the curcuitry. Sorry but this happenes to 99% of old body style passat owners lol... |

Re: 1999 Passat Interior Lights Broken!!
Replace the module/clean the terminals if they're corroded.
