Jeep Grand Cherokee SRT-8?

I read in a car magazine that Chrysler group might give Jeep a performance version of one of its engines. So if this is for real, expect it to be a performance version of its 5.7 litre Hemi V-8. It would also be most likely a Grand Cherokee Limited with the nav screen and all the interior options. tires would be low-profile with 18"-20" inch rims. engine performance would be 0-60 in 5-7 seconds. expect it to be well over 300 hp. top speed would be in the area of 135 mph. but how would they gear it? Low for tourqe and towing, or high for acceleration and speed?
With the Dodge Viper SRT-10, Dodge Ram SRT-10, and Dodge Neon SRT-4, the Chrysler Crossfire SRT-6 (possibly Chrysler 300C SRT-8?) a performance Jeep only makes sense.

Comments would be apperciated.

there is no telling what Jeep has up there sleeves, I do know that the looks for the 2005 is drastically changed, it resembles the new dodge durango. I have also read where they plan on offering the hemi as an option, possibly to replace the v-8 that is used now, but other than that i have not heard of the "new" jeep

Re: Jeep Grand Cherokee SRT-8?

I drove one with the 5.7 HEMI yesterday and wow...amazing. If Jeep does bring out an SRT-8 Grand, I'm gonna be the first in line. I was the first guy in Orange County to take delivery of the GMC Syclone back in 1992, that truck was amazing.

No such thing as too fast!

SRT8 Cherokee lives!

I work at a Special Vehicles company in Auburn Hills and we have a few SRT8 Cherokee's ... They have 420HP, the 5.7 Hemi is beefed up to a 6.1 ... its the same in the Charger SRT8, Magnum SRT8's and 300 C SRT8's. They have 20 inch rims with 255/45R20's. Very nice and VERY fast.
