Do Trans Additives Work?? (shuddering)

I seen a whole bunch of them today at pep boys, one by gunk, another which the sales guy said was the best (big white bottle) forgot the name. I just don't see HOW a $10 bottle can CURE shuddering.

Re: Do Trans Additives Work?? (shuddering)

BTW, i'm going to Napa tomorrow and gonna get Dr Tranny Shudder Fix by Lubegard. It's only 2 ounces and is really strong aparently. I've read all over that this stuff work really good. So hopefully, the shudder will not be to bad after words. I'll let you know if it worked for me... Just give me a couple days to try it out. Good thing is, i don't have to let out any fluid, just add this.

a shudder in 3 to 4 shift that goes away?
could be spark plug wires or the torque converter.
if it is wires it is a rapid hesitation on 3 to 4 shift.
torque converter shudder can be fixed by changing fluid.

Cheap fixes are exactly that.

try LUCUS TRANNY FIX this stuff really works,my 91 olds 98 would stall because the tranny wouldn't gear down fast enough ,this product saved me alot of headache and has work perfect since i put it in over a year and a half ago,you can barely feel it shift, funny thing was my friend who owns a tranny shop gave me a bottle to try before we went to the next step and it worked great! this guy has been working with tranny's for 34 years and he swears by their stuff! Give it a try!

Re: Do Trans Additives Work?? (shuddering)

Does it feel like you're going over a rough patch of road ? I have experienced that.

There is a teflon valve in the transmission that gets coated with deposits due to heat and fluid age. It flutters and causes that shudder/hesitation.

I get the BG transmission flush service at my dealer every 35-40K. It cures that problem every time and my tranny is going strong at 110K.

Probably the torque converter. Someone makes an additive that may fix it. Additives add a cleaning agent that will dissolve the sitcky material and I have seen them work. An additive that fixes the issue is better than changing fluid depending on how many miles. If the tranny is slipping from age then changing the fluid may finish the tranny. Removing the fluid will remove the fibers that continue to make the clutches grab. I changed fluid once before I knew and lost one. I know others that have made the same mistake. I have a 94 and 95 thunderbird and had one of the torque converters replaced under warranty with the same symptoms. Sensor issues may cause the same symptoms. When changing gears the motor system controls have to react. I need O2 sensors and mine will hesitate or shudder, however usually accompanied by a MIL.

In the use of Instant Shudder Fix ....yes it works. 95 4.
6 89k miles and no more shudder. $6.99 2.6 ounces. They do recomend a complete flush including tourque Converter... but until I did that it worked like a charm.
