Re: short shifter..

Re: short shifter..

It is shorter in overall height, so you have up to ...lets say 40% less movement of the shifter that is necessary to get it in gear. The less distance the shifter must travel the faster the shifts, and less time wasted shifting instead of flooring it.

In regards to the first question. I don't know much about the race shifter you mentioned, but I've heard good things about the 3sx short shifter. To my knowledge the 3sx owners all own and love 3/Ss, they are highly recommended throughout the 3/S community, and if it is available on their site, I'm sure it is a 'good' upgrade.

Re: short shifter..

I love the shortshifters, they really help. The look of the shifter might not be shorter, but the matter is the "throw" of the shifter. That's all we need, and I think the 3000gt's shifter looks short enough. So shortshifter will just reduce the distance between each gear, so it saves you time when you shift. Most of the cars I owned have shortshifters, and they are soooo helpful, but I dont have one for 3000gt, cuz I really don't know where I can get it. LoL

What does missing a shift mean? Grinding gears? I do that when I try to shift real quick, I need to learn to shift faster withought grinding at all.

Re: short shifter..

And another thing about shortshifter, it's harder to shift because you have to put more force to it, since the throw is shorter.

all this crap complaining about short shifters!!! I saw this guy did a clever and CHEAP thing to make a short shifter on his GT. He just has a mechanic, or whoever, simply cut the metal shifter and weld it back on a few inches shorter. Would be much easier than dishing out 100 or even 160 for those 3SXperformance shifters.
