97 Wrangler - Knocking when turning
Over the past couple of weeks I've noticed that when I am turning into my parking garage or going over a speed bump and my steering wheel is turned, I hear a knocking sound in the wheel whell. Not the type of knocking associated with fuel issues, but more of a "clunk" sound. I'm thinking it's something with the suspension or a u-joint of something, but wanted to see if anyone has had a similar issue in the past.
Thanks, Tim K |

Re: 97 Wrangler - Knocking when turning
Sounds like the front sway bar links. On the 97, they have a central swivel point and a rubber boot. Eventually they go bad, mine was making the same noise. It's a quick job to put in the new part but if I recall correctly you'll need a big Allen wrench to do it.
