Instrument cluster switch out

I have a 2000 GMC Sierra 2500 LS, 6.0 with 4L80E Transmission. I am doing some upgrades like a deeper transmission pan and a trans. Temp. Gauge.

Someone told me that instead of running a line up to the windshield pillar and installing a pod and gauge, that I could just switch out the instrument cluter of my truck with one from a Denali or Escalade. They said that all trucks after 1999 are already prewired for the trans temp gauge. If I can verify that, I would much rather have the gauge in the instrument cluster where it should be than on the pillar.

I understand that I do have to have the odometer calibrated to my mileage, thats not a problem at all.

SO can anyone verify that my truck is already wired for the trans temp gauge?????

Instrument cluster cahnge

YES all 1999 and up GM trucks are wired for the tranny temp. YES if you change over to a cluster with the tranny cage it will work. HOWEVER if you change the cluster that came with your truck to a differant one, the airbag light will come on and stay on. There is no way to get it turned off except to take out the blub.
