Instrument cluster switch out
I have a 2000 GMC Sierra 2500 LS, 6.0 with 4L80E Transmission. I am doing some upgrades like a deeper transmission pan and a trans. Temp. Gauge.
Someone told me that instead of running a line up to the windshield pillar and installing a pod and gauge, that I could just switch out the instrument cluter of my truck with one from a Denali or Escalade. They said that all trucks after 1999 are already prewired for the trans temp gauge. If I can verify that, I would much rather have the gauge in the instrument cluster where it should be than on the pillar. I understand that I do have to have the odometer calibrated to my mileage, thats not a problem at all. SO can anyone verify that my truck is already wired for the trans temp gauge????? |

Instrument cluster cahnge
YES all 1999 and up GM trucks are wired for the tranny temp. YES if you change over to a cluster with the tranny cage it will work. HOWEVER if you change the cluster that came with your truck to a differant one, the airbag light will come on and stay on. There is no way to get it turned off except to take out the blub.
