How bad a ride?

Hey I was just wondering how bad the ride quality would be on a 4 banger with 33''s. If it would be too bad, regearing would get it back to stock power right? (make up the difference from the tires i have now to the ones i want to get) What would I need to regear a 95 2.5l to and how much would it cost and where can i get it? Also, whats a good size lift for 33''s that yall would suggest. Thanks

Have never had a wrangler with 33"ers so I don't know about the ride.

I do know that gearing isn't going to give you a beter ride. thats suspension and tires etc.

You might want to regear with the taller tires but you need to do some calculations based on what you have now and what you want to accomplish with the tall tires.

there are websites with calculators available (I don't have the links handy so do a search)

and other web sites discuss lifts and tires too.

a search on "wrangler jeeps" should bring up lots - take your pick.....

Sorry about that, I dont mean ride quality like a rough ride, i mean power loss. How much power would i lose with going to bigger tires and do i need to regear?

I just recently talked to an employee at an offroading store about this. I have a 97 four cyl and i wanted to know what my options would be for a lift. He said that i would need to regear if i wanted anything much bigger than the 30's that i have now. He had a four cylinder with 38's (according to him) so my guess is that the power loss wouldnt be too too bad if you put on 33's. The thing is 4 cyl are just underpowered as it is so you are most likely going to have to regear to squeeze as much out of the engine as you can.

I forgot......you can get the parts at any good offroading store. The guy quoted me at a little under a grand i think. That was the price installed though. If you do the work yourself it should cost about 350 per axle I believe.

You probably have 4.10's now...Go to something like 4.88 or even lower if you prefer.

4.10's are what's in the stock 97 4cyl. I had one with 235/75's, and it was a dog without regearing. You'll definitely need to regear to keep some get up and go.
