Arrow A/C Problems !!!!!!

87 Jeep Cherokee Pioneer with 350k Milage

Sat for 3 years till I got the cooling system straight.

I went the convert and charge the ac to r-134.

Only used like half a bottle. Went to check ac and let it run for a while and nothing no air movement at all.

Checked under the hood and the clutch wasn't even on and didn't notice that it hadn't been cutting on before either.

Well I unplugged the drier to compressor switch and stuck a needle nose in it and everything cut on except the clutch which means no ac still.

How do I fix it ? Is compressor bad ?

Also when jeep overheats the fan cuts on.... really loud noise that doesn't sound ordinary is something loose or is it about to go ? Noticed it when I was trying to fix ac.

Thanks in advanced.

Corey

Re: A/C Problems !!!!!!

If the system has too little refrigerant, the compressor won't start (clutch is prevented from engaging).

probably beneficial if you got a book on a/c systems.

You will need to purge the system of the r12, the oil should be changed in the system and leak tested before you install the r134a.

another option is to use "duracool" or something similar. It is a treated propane product. has some other things added to it and supposedly has equal or better cooling than the 134a. and it is more tolerant of any left over r12. and may work with the r12 lube as well.

check it out further.

Also, is the fan that cuts on when it overheats, an electric fan?

JD

still need to
