1998 Isuzu Rodeo Engine Problems
I have a 98 Rodeo V-6 with 98,000 miles (well taken care of) which ran great until last week...I went to start it and it started, but ran as if on 3 cylinders. It would barely pull out of parking spot to be towed. The check engine light came on immediately.
The first shop said the timing was on, compression was good, and the cams seemed good. They said when they pulled wires off R side it ran better. They could not figure it out. I had to then take to an Isuzu dealer who said the timing was off and replaced the timing belt...it would not run at all then. They called Isuzu and changed the timing again to get it back to running as if on 3 cylinders. They say compression is good too. They are now stumped and do not know the answer. This is 1 week later. Does anyone have an idea? I feel they have no clue. I need this vehicle badly. PLEASE HELP! |

It is most likely an intake manafold gasket problem. Your Dealer needs to plug in there scan tool and take it for a ride and it will show misfire codes. The gaskets cost under 40 bucks but expect to pay about 300 for labor. -Ryan

Ryan,
Thanks! I will call them in am. Will let you know if that does it. I did recall hearing what sounded like an air leak while standing on the driver's side. Dave |
