Re: Short Headers Or Long Headers?

umm damn..... short headers are short and long headers are long..... its hard to get long tubes to fit on camaros especially 3rd gens.. and you have to get your exhaust modified... shorties will bolt right up to your stock y pipe...

I have been reading on LS1.com that when LT headers are hooked up the LS1 starts using alot of oil. I do not use headers so I personally do not know.

Re: Short Headers Or Long Headers?

If you are going to have someone else install them for you, you may as well go ahead and get the long tubes, but only if youve got a lift, and you're prepared to do some engine lifting. but if you plan on doing it in your garage, I just put a set of mac headers on my 98. it was a two day job, but all i had to do was remove the steering shaft, and, the egr, and the valve covers from both sides, and they slid right in. The mac headers seem to give me the performance improvement i was hoping for, and I really doubt that you would notice much difference with the long tubes. you can get a set of used mac headers, with a y-pipe for around 200 bucks if you look around good enough, and im sure you would love them. hope that helps, keep us posted

Re: Short Headers Or Long Headers?

Long tubes and shorty headers are both really good. When you install shorties you are going to give up a little on the bottom end but usually are easier to install, depending on your application. On my '73 I have much better time with the long tubes. The shorties made it impossible to use a spark plug socket to get to the spark plugs. When I went to the long tubes they installed in 30 min and now I can get to all but one spark plug with a spark plug socket.

LONG TUBES!!! LONG TUBES!!! i love how i cant find exhaust anywhere and it wont fit whooo hooo. but i did find a custom shop to do me up a y pipe for cheap (around 200) and he said that the cars gonna flow like crazy when hes done, so if u do it right long tubes are really cool they give u a more power over shorties, and they just look 1000 times better. but be prepared for ALOT of work i had to slide them in with my motor i wouldnt have been able to get them in any other way.
