Worn clutch?

Hi there, I'm thinking about buying a 93 Sonoma with the 2.5L engine and 5-speed transmission. While test driving the truck I noticed that the clutch engages only near the top of the pedal's travel. Does this indicate a bad clutch? Or is there something else that could cause this?
