Was this a good deal?
Hello fellow Cavalier-ers!
I'm so spanking new to this forum, my Simulac formula hasn't been delivered yet! Anyway, I'm picking up a prevoiusly owned 98 Chevy Cav from a local dealer that was a trade-in for under $5K "out the door". It's a pretty black 4 door with the 2.4L DOHC, about 62,000 miles on it, and has the power window/door package which seemed to be rare based on all of the "crank-ups" I saw on the lot.
Looks like Kelly Bluebook had the retail for around $5700 and the dealer told me after full servicing, they would have gotten up to $7500 for it. The only problem it has is a strobing odometer which could (in time) cost $ to fix. The 62 as in 62K miles comes up first and then after about 2 or seconds, the rest of the milage info. I still liked the car over the 2003's on the lot that would have ran me double the price of this one with a killer discount. I'm more interested in your thoughts of the overall value versus condition of the car. I'm thinking that the car was a "wife" car in its last life as it will be in this one ( my wife's first car). I'm thinking the engine's special as well even though NOTHING is hopped up in this ride. It may "drink" more than the ECOTECH engines as well. That's all I know about it so far, outside of it seeming to have plenty of pep and rather crisp steering (Rack and Pinion maybe?).
Thanks for any expert feedback in advance.
