1998 Golf trouble accelerating

Hi,

I recently drove my 1998 Golf K2 2.0 standard shift from San Francisco to Utah... the car was fine in SF and I had it serviced (oil change, regular maintenance) just before the long drive, but it's been having problems since about Winnemucca, NV. It starts fine, but has trouble accelerating. It feels like the engine isn't taking fuel properly - it chug-chug-chugs as I accelerate between gears and then operates normally at a sustained speed. I don't have a mechanic out here yet, so any guidance would be greatly appreciated.

Also, the power windows stopped working after a visit to the car wash three days ago. I'm able to use the key to open and close them, but the window controls inside the car don't do anything. I've taken it through the car wash a million times and never had a problem so I'm wondering if there's maybe a wire that's been pulled loose or something?? The sunroof works fine.

Thanks!
