Buildin a Sleeper.......

I just joined this website and wanted to say hey to everyone. Looks like there is alot of knowledgeable people around, hope I can lend my knowledge to whoever needs it.

I just recently bought an '81 Pontiac Parisienne with an Olds 455 4bbl in it. Now I'm not sure about what year the motor is but it has the G casting on the heads so I know it's an early smog motor. It has no smog anything on it but I know it's fairly low compression like 8.25:1 or somethin. Anyone know any stats on these motors?

Anyways I bought the car which has 120 000 original Kms, the motor has approx 8000 km, for $700 so I couldn't go wrong. It was an old farmer who I bought if off and the thing is mint! Anyways I did plugs, cap, rotor, wires, fuel filter, and straight duals with Blue Bottles. Just wonderin if anyone knows of any performance mods for these mid 70s motors as I'm not too familiar with them. I'm thinkin of goin with 68-70 heads, electric fuel pump, possibly cam (which I heard you cannot go more than 1/2 inches of lift cause the vavletrain can't handle it). It a daily driver so i was thinkin of maybe a nice 3.42 Posi, with a stage 2 shift kit, and maybe a 2200 stall. What do you think? It's an ex 350 diesel car so I would imagine it's a th350, I haven't gotten a chance to crawl underneath and see. For a smog motor it still moves that beast of a car along the way it is right now , but of course that's not enough.

So that's that.....Any suggestions?

I tell you one thing, it's funny to see the looks on people's faces when you come screamin by them with a boat like this barkin at'em. I raced a 5L the other night and ate him for dinner, LOVE SLEEPY TIME!

I just read on the net that the "G" Cast on my head means my motor is a '71, which means a whole different ball game. Last time I listen to buddies who think they know what they're talking about.
