Lightbulb Any Ideas?

Hi guys, I was just curious if any of you have any suggestions for a edge over the stangs. For anyone that hasn't seen my first post on the "Cop Magnet" thread, I'm new here, I own a '99 Firebird V6 with an American Thunder exhaust system and K&N FIPK. Now I know everyone's thinking why not just get a V8... well, at my age, insurance sucks enough right now on my bird, so getting a T/A would only suck more. Anyway, if anyone could tell me any suggestions to add more power for that edge over the Fords and eclipse V6's I'd appreciate it. Have a good one.

Honestly...your getting there with the hp I heard you say your at around 250 on exhaust and intake. I wouldnt be so sure of that figure, but I'm not here to dispute it. Well your biggest downfall is your weight...doesn't feel like 200 hp when your over 3k lbs. So for "unsprung weight", weight reduction, and cool factors...invest in lightweight rims, and some better rubber. And deff. anything drivetrain-wise to put down the power your car is holding back. Also for a V6 F-Body and not go into the big G's...IMO I'd go with a ECu upgrade, all exhaust (headers and cat [high-flow, or gut it out] remaining), probably a short throw. And a lot of practice! Because I'm sure I'm gonna hear s**t for this but I've seen V6 stock beat mustangs stock. So your personal ability will knock off tenths more than any part. Oh and it's all in your 60 foot. Practice practice practice, hooking up ... shift points, etc. Thats about all your really gonna squeeze out unless you get a v8 or money for extensive mods. Much Luck!

I hate to "shit" on your party, BUT you do not have 250hp. I do not know whether or not you have the 3.4L or the 3.8L V6, either way you do not have 250hp. Stock, the 3.4L has 160hp, exhaust and intake won't give you 90hp even in your wettest dreams. Stock, the 3.8L has 205hp, full exhaust with cat and headers and an intake and a rear section that's not Flowmaster then MAYBE 45hp. But in all seriousness to get that edge you're looking for. Drop the extra weight via lighter rims and get rid of the spare, and if you don't use your back seats take them out too. Drivetrain wise i would suggest a 2200 stall converter 3.73 or 4.10 gears wit at least an 8" rear. For airflow i would add a high flow cat not a freeflow and headers, buy your own gaskets don't use the ones that come with the kits. Engine wise I would add a larger TB, replace your cam with a higher duration cam, possably the one from RSM racing, works nice for me. Also replace your rockers and studs. For tractionn i would buy better rubbers and beefier lower control arms. Have fun !!!

Dude I don't think you heard me, the only way u would get to 245 with a 3.8L by doing exhaust is is either a cutout and headers and intake or non flowmaster exhaust and intake and headers and highflow cat. a flowmaster rear section and an intake will not give you 40-50hp.
