serious question...for 240 owners esp

Alright I was drivng my spec v a few days ago and I pull up behind this pontiac. He keeps eyeing the truck beside him like he wants to race it even though the guy in it is old and his truck looks like it's going to fall apart. The light turns green and the pontiac tromps on it and the truck doesn't even try. There's a merge a little ways up the road so I figure if I get a little close to the pontiac I can squeeze by the truck in the left lane and pass the pontiac before the merge. Well the merge comes and I could only get around the truck ...Since I'm on the pontiacs tail his passenger puts down the vanity mirror and keeps talking about me to the driver...so I wave, smile and proceed to flip him off. He locks his brakes up in the middle of the road, hops out of his car with smoke still coming out of the wheel wells and comes at my car. I just drive around him in the breakdown lane and spin my tires as I flip him off out of my sunroof. I pass a few cars in no passing zones to add some space between me and him. I pull up to a light and I'm behind 5-8 cars and I'm waiting for the guy to come around the corner...he doesn't...and I think it's over with...then I see his shitty silver car pass a few cars and he's coming at me quick. I drive into the right "lane" (actually parking spaces) and take a right. I get to a stop sign and a cars stopped at it...I go around the car on the left and take a left onto a small sidestreet....It's a dead end...So I try to pull a U-turn and the guy locks his brakes up again right in front of my car...so I reverse and he is standing in the way of me leaving...I rev my engines and side step...hoping to run his ass over...He gets out of the way and kicks my car (no dent )...I blow through a few more stop signs and I haven't seen him since.

Alright...this similar situation happens every few weeks (sometimes more)...and since it only happened once while driving the cavalier....I think it's my driving style coupled with the car that makes people so angry.

So in a nutshell:
Have you (240 owners) experienced this a lot with you cars?

and

What cars do you think will cause drivers to flip out at me less, while still being fun to drive?

The second question I can already partially answer...like no hondas/acuras. I am wondering though whether a 240sx, lexus sc300/400, and several other fairly plain looking cars will piss people off. I am getting closer and closer to being able to afford an mr2 and I'm really wondering whether that's a good idea to use as a daily driver since I already make so many people mad with a car like the sentra.

Answers would be greatly appreciated...and please don't flame me too much for driving like an asshole. lol

Really...

Just stop Driving like an Asshole.

It's never the car that gets negative reaction (except for the occasional ford versus Chevy hillbilly) it's the Driving style.

I've driven everything from Civics to 3000gts and vettes around and have NEVER gotten a reaction like the one you describe.

So unless you can change the way you drive, be a little bit less aggressive and finger happy, then it will not matter what kinda car you drive... People are gonna react negative.

Sounds like NYC. I agree with Hunter about it. It's just about the way you drive not what you drive. I've driven a 240 for about a year and a half now. I'm not the quickest to obey posted signs and I've never gotten a response like that.

hmmm..maybe I'll stop tailgating so much and stop giving the one-fingered wave so much. Quite often I don't even flip people off either....most of this shit happens in somersworth/rochester which aren't really bad areas, but I was right near Lafyette (sp?) street...so...I guess I should be a lot more careful around that area.

I do think it is the car also...like so many people try to race me now it's not even funny...All I do is pull up to a light and I'll see a maxima, accord or some other family car with a group of 16 year olds that keep eyeing me and creeping at the light. I definitely didn't get any reactions like that with the cavalier...except when I showed them I wanted to race.

I guess I'll slow down and try to be a more cautious driver...going double the posted speed limit frequently will definitely come around to bite me in the ass I know, but it's so hard not to get caught up in all the racing and street games people like to play.

I've heard from a few places that once you bring your car to the track you drive a lot better on the street because you have a place to be competitive with your car...

That's for sure.

Driving on a track is a blast. and it really gets alot of the need for speed out of your system.

I only needed to get pulled over for going 115 in a 65 once to stop being to silly on the opens.

Mind you it's still fun to "Blow the Gunk out" and shut down some punk down who thinks he owns the road... but it's also ok to wave off some Manker who wants to race you in a family car...

Honestly smoking some Oldsmobuick Family-mobile gives me no pleasure at all. Doing the same to some 40 year old jag off in a vette

Racing in general will get alot more good publicity when the racers start to get a little more courteous to the norms on the roads. It's hard but it's gotta be done.

Re: serious question...for 240 owners esp

Come to atlanta and flip ppl off and act stupid on the road please.
In ATL I think we have the dumbest drivers, some of the worst traffic and the worst f*****g cops, ppl are so frastrated.
1-some girl did something stupid on the road, and when the guy in the truck got out pissed off, she becam smart, dude pulled out a bat and put some dents on her car.
2-some idiot so frustrated about life is rushing home, drives like a maniac and cuts some guy off, guy #2 flips him and yells some friendly words, stresses and frustrated driver stops, pulls out a gun and puts 3 bullets in his windshield and drives off,
so klohiq, welcome to ATL, and I encourage you to flip everyone that looks at you.

Sounds like a sore loser to me. I beat the shit out of some punk-ass kid in a riced out civic and now he revs his engine every time I see him. Its normal, they don't realize that thier thoughts on the performance of thier cars don't translate to actual horsepower. Fuck all the ricers and wannabes.

actually New York is kind of pussy compared to the south lol. Not to mention the most murders are in Miami.

you have to live in the south and understand its history to really know why its like it is. Southern Black people ARE COMPLETELY DIFFERENT then up north people lol. COMPLETELY DIFFERENT backgrounds and culture, the north was always a more refined place while the south was filled with slave whipped swamp wading dirty africans, t hey have compltely different attitudes and ways of life, I think its so funny when New Yorkers talk about how badass they are. They do that shit down here and we beat on them and kill them for the hell of it. Like I said I been to New York, its not really that bad, there are MUCH worse places in america, get out and travel,,, stop watching the godfather and New Jack City.
