Broken hood release cable, how open hood?
I have a '96 Taurus with a dead battery. Went to open hood and cable snaped. Any way to open the hood without dismantling the front of the car?

Re: Broken hood release cable, how open hood?
Can you undo the hood release lever in the driver compartment and get hold of the cable with a vise grips? If need be, cut back the cable housing or pull on it with the vise grips to allow access to the cable.

Re: Broken hood release cable, how open hood?
Some times on some cars havent tried in on one of these yet u can get to the cable and latch from between the grill and the radiator. Chevrolets are notorius for this downfall in security but is a good thing since the brake all the time.

Just lay in the front of the car and reach under the bumper and find where cable is conected to the release spring and that will do it.I been do in it forever without installing new cable.
