2003 V6 starting question

I have a 2003 with the 4.3 V6 and automatic. When I start it, I turn the key to start and immediately let it go and it usually fires right up. Sometimes, however, it will not start right away, but the starter will stay engaged for 3-5 seconds until it finally starts, even though the key is not in the start position. Is this normal? I don't want to go ask my dealer a stupid question.

Thanks.

Re: 2003 V6 starting question

They do this it is normal and it should be in the owners manual somewhere. I believe GM started this on most 2002 models.
