newbie air deflector/wind noise question

I just picked up an '04 with the sunroof. I removed the gear basket and wondering if I should also remove the air deflector (to actually be able to see out of the sunroof). Any experiences out there on wind noise with the air deflector in place versus removed? Is the deflector only important when you've got bikes, etc on the rack?

Any experiences would be greatly appreciated.

Thanks,
Kyle

I don't have a sunroof, but personally I think Xterras without the wind deflector look pretty ugly. Instead you might want to do what's been called the "Thor Mod" after Thor who designed it. Basically it's a smoked Lexan piece that makes your deflector see through. You can search here and/or go to the page on my site. http://www.xterra4x4.com/mods/Owners...eethrough.html
