New Mercedes CLK-DTM project

Ok, guys. You are always talking Tamiya up as the model company, so I'm jumping into a new project that I picked up last Friday. The bodywork (what bodywork? LOL) was done in 2 hours and the primer went on Saturday morning. Using laquers, I was able to sand Saturday night and apply the color coats Sunday morning. After a night in the food dehydrator it is ready to polish. I will add the "carbon-fiber" bellypan decals this Friday and complete the chassis. I haven't built a model this fast in 8 years, and I have a 60 hour a week work schedule!!

Um.... then you don't want to ask how long I've been working on the S2000.

Coming along nicely, though!

I haven't heard of the food dehydrator trick in a long time. I read about it years ago in a model magazine. Does it really work as good as that old article says?

Man the thing that holds up my freaking models is waiting for the damn body paint to cure.

I might have to try to get my hands on a cheepo dehydrator.

It works wonders!! Enamels cure in a 1/4 the time they normally do and Laquers blush less with the Florida humidity I have here. In between coats I've been known to throw a car in the microwave for 30 seconds to "set-up" the paint for the next coat (see background of pic!) This isn't something I recommend you try with a prized project as I did have to learn the power settings through trial-and-BIG ERROR!!
