How can the UN tell them what or what not to do with their land. If they ordered Bush something like they he would end up bombing them.

The UN is a waste of time and space. They can do a whole lot of nothing. They have less teeth then a paper tiger and the willpower of a shadow.

The best they can manage is bureaucratic nonsense and indignant posturing. They're a failure of the highest order. They may be the most corrupt organization the world has ever seen. Anan being the chief thief among them. The UN is synonymous with failure.

I think the big problem, is that they don't go out of their way to kill people enough, and they listen too much to what countries have to say.

Nobody had a serious problem with the U.N. until they decided to rain on Dubya's parade...

Wow, your constant bashing of the UN organization is sometime rather annoying. Do you seriously need to bring it up every singgle post where that name is brought up?
Anyways, I think it's kinda stupd how they will have talks of a country and what will happen to it without having a country participatin at the meeting?
"I don't like the way you govern your country. Now excuse me while I go have a conference with other countries that are on other continents and the country your currently in argument with" makese sense dont it?

I dunno Yogs, have you ever heard of East Timor?

I'll bet you don't consider the first Gulf War a success either, then?

How about the Cuban Missile Crises? Nah, that's right, I'm sitting here glowing in the dark right now.

I believe they have a right to build whatever they want on their land. I don't think they should go into lands that are in question or land that is the Palastanians though.

Re: Thought this would be of interest.

Well,by your logic,DGB, they shouldn't be building a wall then. The whole state of Israel is disputed by the fundamentalists.

The Israel problem dates back to 1948,when a bunch of foreigners thought they could wade in,upend the existing way of things, impose their own beliefs on the Middle East and maintain the peacre by shooting at anyone who disagreed.

Those who do not learn from history are condemned to repeat it.Walls don't work, ask the Germans. Before anyone argues that the Berlin wall served an opposite purpose,it didn't.It's core objective was to keep two peoples apart. Reality of the situation is thattoo many people had family and interests on both sides of the wall.Unless Israel intends to eject ever citizen with Palestinian ancestry once the wall is complete, they'll have the same social problems as occurred in Germany.

Finally, walls will not deter terrorists. They'll just find another way to target Israelis.

I'm going to side with DGB on this one -- if the Israelis want to build a wall on their land, that is in fact entirely their business. I'd like to see one on the Rio Grande, personally.

I hope it works, too, especially since a whole bunch of American tax dollars are helping pay for it. My God, but we throw a lot of money at the Israelis! And for some reason Arabs hate us

The problem, as I see it (and the part that the UN hates) is this here wall goes deep deep deep into Palestine, and is in fact a massive land grab, going a few hundred miles into the West Bank at parts to wall in a bunch of illegal settlements.

Also, with map at bottom. Chillingly, the Israeli map doesn't show any border between Israel and Palestine.
