Custom Strut tower bars

Anyone here made their own strut bars? What material and with what width should I be using.

You do have to drill if you use the Buick STB on the front of a '97-'03 GP.

I read you only had to elongate holes for the rear one, unless of course you actually installed them on your car.

You have to make two of the mounting holes on the bar a little larger with a file or dremel. The larger holes then slide over the strut mounts. That's how mine is attached.

Re: Custom Strut tower bars

I'm not very familiar with rear strut bars. Where are they mounted? and are they effective at all?

it basically does what the front one does, it bolts to the top of the rear strut housings for even more frame rigidness. But I read that you have to elongate the holes on the bar for the rear one, something that can be done with a simple drill.

Installation of the rear STB actually netted more noticable results than did the front. I guess this makes sense too.........the front strut towers get some support from the firewall, the rear gets support from.....the back seat???? Not much supporting the rears without it. It installs in the trunk.

Re: Custom Strut tower bars

AAAAh GM canada sucks. They only have the single bar and the # for the kit doesn't even work. Also the gm site from us doesn't ship to here! Any after market sites that sell these??

eaby is the next cheapest place although they tend to overcharge for shipping, but you can find some people selling front and back together also.
