Help! ZC problem

i have a 88 ZC motor with pm6 ecu and pm7 chip on the board.
my car is stalling out and dying after running for a few minutes, not just as it gets to temperature a little bit afterwards, you notice a slight hesitation about a minute before it stalls out, if you wait about 3 minutes the car will restart and run another 10 or so and do the same thing. the ECU is flashing code 9 (crank angle sensor) but its done that as long as ive had it, 8 months or so, weve tried reconnecting the wires and that seemed to correct the problem for a week or so and then it happened again. anybody know about this?

So let me get this clear. You changed the crank angle sensor 8 months ago? Did it start flashin code 9 or it has been flashin for awhile?

Yeh well then you need to change that. You can run on bad sensors for awhile till it dies out. SO thats what probably happened.

Re: Help! ZC problem

Try resetting your ECU. Remove HAZARD fuse in the main fuse box for 10 seconds. 2. Make sure your Cylinder sensor is hooked up properly (two blue wires from Cylinder sensor to your dizzy, make sure they're not hooked up backwards). 3. Check the alignment of your cams in respect to TDC. http://www.thezcr.com/assets/images/zcbook/1-9.jpg Most important is that the upper marks on the cams are facing at 12 o'clock. Inner side marks might not be aligned dead on to eachother. That's ok. 4. You can try adjusting your timing. 5.To check the functionality of the cylinder sensor do the following: a) Measure the resistance between two terminals on Cylinder sensor. b) There should be 700 - 1000 ohms. If not, then sensor is bad. c) Check for continuity to body ground on two terminals individually. If continuity exist, then the sensor is bad. d) Reconnect the cylinder sensor. e) On your ECU harness, measure the resistance between C1 and C2 terminals. f) There should be 700 - 1000 ohms. If not, then you have an open from your ECU to Cylinder sensor. 6. It could be your ECU as well that's bad. The chances would be very slim.

Re: Help! ZC problem

thanks for the replies guys, weve checked the timing weve had the ecu out over night before it seems like when you play with the connections to the sensor itll work but then sometimes it wont weve reconnected and im 99% sure its not the connections i guess the sensor is just going bad. the ECU connection is a good idea do you have an idea where i can get a digram of the pm6 pin out?
