Question Radio Display

Here's a stumper. This display for my radio is completely gone. It doesn't show the time or radio station, etc. What's weird is that in the winter when I start the truck and it's still cold, it's on. After driving for a few minutes and the vehicle warms up, it goes off. Now that it's warmer it's been off all summer. I've checked the fuses, wiring, etc. It's a 98 Ford Ranger. Anyone have a similar problem before?

Re: Radio Display

Don't know the cause but I have owned several fords from 1988-1993 and each and every one of them had that same problem. Sorry I can't help you, maybe someone will be able to tell us all.

same problem

I have a 1997 Ranger, i love the truck, but the same problems occurs in my truck. The radio display will be on, sometimes off, either way the radio usually always works, just not the display. This has been the case for almost every ford vehicle my family has had. A windstar, expedition, and now the ranger....... whats the deal?

Re: Re: Radio Display

Had that problem in a 98 Explorer...Dealer said it was a faulty resistor behind fuse panel....Not very electrically knowledgable, but I guess it makes sense. Dealer says tuner control and display control are on two seperate lines, each individually powered, and when one goes, the other will usually still work. Hope that helps.

Re: Radio Display

Dealer is giving you a first class "CON " job. Further investigation on my part has led me to find out this is an on -going problem with Ford over several years and vehicle. Cost to repair is excessive if you go to Ford and they refuse to admit liability. Take a look at this web site for possible help at a much lower cost. www.shareamemory.com/radio
