What should I keep ?
Hello all,
I have a 1991 Toyota Camry that has 130,000 miles on the odometer. The body, especially fenders, are quite rusted and my gas tank leaks above the 1/2 mark, however the vehicle does run well. The AC still works plus power windows & locks. It even has a remote start. I also own a 1993 Chev Cavalier with about 80,000 miles on it. Unfortunately the head gasket blew on it in Febuary, and I haven't driven or started it since. Before that, it was running just fine. The body is in excellent condition for a 10 year old vehicle. My problem is....I must get rid of one of the cars and I can't figure out what to do. Should I sell the Camry and use some of the cash from the sale to fix the Cavilier? Should I even fix the Cavilier? Any input would be appreciated. thx sbm

Sell the Cavilier and fix the Camry. Or, sell both and get something else.

Yeah sell both and get something else, but if that truely is not an option, than keep the Camry.

Re: What should I keep ?
Depends on the engines you have on either of those two cars.
I suggest you keep the cavalier if it has the V6 engine. Otherwise, get rid of it + fix your Camry (replacing your gas tank could get to be expensive tho). |

You should try to get a quote on how much it costs to replace the headgasket. If that's the only thing wrong with the Cavi and the headgasket repair cost isn't outrageous, then I think it is worth keeping more than the rusted high-miles Camry.
You will probably get close to nothing if you try to sell the Cavi without repairing it. For the rusted Camry, probably around $1800-$2000 if you are lucky. |
