Ody Transmission rough shifting
My wife has a 2002 Odyssey with 18,000 miles on it, and the transmission has started jumping back and forth from 3rd gear to OD around 40 mph, rough shifting. With 40mph being the speed limit on most of our roads in town, she is complainig. She took it in today to be checked and the mechanic at the Honda place told her that it was normal. Typical for the clowns here.... After reading some of the posts on this site about the transmission problems, I would like to know if this was the first indication others saw before their transmissions failed, or are the problems typically associated with other gears? Or could the problem just be related to some incorrect pressure settings or something like that? She's starting to talk about a new Infinity and I sure can't afford that.........

Re: Ody Transmission rough shifting
as long as the technician is able to duplicate the problem, there is no excuse for not replacing the transmission, ask if you can go for a ride with the tech. If it acts up and the tech still claims it is normal, and you are sure it is'nt, talk to the service manager, then the district service manager...and if still no luck, deal direct with honda...they should give you the phone number at the dealer. These vehicles had many trans problems like the one you are stating and I do not doubt the trans is on its way out. Eventually the check engine light will probably come on. hope this helps!!

Moss Motors in Lafayette, LA stated it was normal. A lock on the overdrive??? I went to a different dealership, they replaced the EGR and problem solved. Unfortunately this has been going on for 2 years for me and I believe its affected our gas mileage. Oh well.
