Instrument Cluster
Who knows how to remove the square buttons at the bottom edge of the instrument cluster? Are these actually locks that hold the cluster in place?

I assume you are referring to a 1989-1994 model. To remove these buttons, you need to remove the trim bezel. To do this, remove the steering wheel, then unscrew the 4 screws that hold the trim piece in place. If they are just the plastic button retainers (things that look like buttons but don't actually do anything), they just push out from the back. If they are actual buttons, like for a rear defogger or the rear washer/wiper, you will need to disconnect the electrical connectors that connect to them, and push them out from the back.
