Hey all. New guy in town and as you can see by the name I dream of the next Skyline to be released in the US, as I'm sure many of you do
Well now here is my question. I saw this on another site (hope it's ok to post it) http://home.netvigator.com/~europa/0...News_frame.htm Can anyone tell me if there is any truth to this story? I admit I like the XVL style, but it ain't the Skyline.

Welcome to the site R35USA!
Yep, I am a dreamer just like you ![]() I'm also the admin/webmaster here, so if you have any questions or problems dont hesitate to ask me ![]() Even though I like the XVL concept, I have to agree with you that Skyline is Skyline, Nissan should not **** with the Skyline I'd really hate it if the next Skyline looked like that. It's loosing its sports appeal and going into a more luxo direction, they got Gloria and Cedric to cover that. :oI sure do hope that that isn't the next Skyline.....

I like the Leon Cupra R.
As for the Skyline. I don't think it's changing to that shape. That is just a sedan version of it. There's a pic right now of the concept R35 going around. If you haven't seen it, just let me know and I'll post it. P.S. Welcome to AF.

Ya I've seen that picture around for sometime now :smoker2: So the only problem is "HOW" close to real is it
A buddy of mine has an NSX and has been tracking it for sometime now and the same holds true there. Everyone speculates on the V8 and we even heard about it having 2 electric motors up front for each wheel What the:shocked: Anyhow I'm just hoping that the XVL is NOT the new Skyline Then again I woudn't mind driving around in a Nissan Stagea passing all the kids in their suped up Civics:frog:

XVL vs. Skyline
As you may or may not know, the Nissan XVL is merely an engineering workhorse, much like the altezza, willed into reality. However, many of you know that Nissan is in dire stress of being bought out by French manufacturer Renault (it is already so 30%). Nissan has always been one of the primary Japanese propogators alongside Mazda of sports cars; it is quite unfortunate that sports cars are becoming obsolete in favor of luxurious/spacious American and European products. God willing, Nissan and Mazda will burn like the phoenix, regardless of SUV counterparts, and luxury divisions, globallly. There will always be a place in heart for our 'so called' extinct free burning Mazdas, Nissans, and Toyoyas.

YA I am getting so tired of seeing SUV's. OK I have a Honda Accord Coupe, but prefer to drive my wife's new Honda Odyssey
Fits my 100lb dog and everything else, strange yes, but it is a grocery getter after all:angel: I agree with Morpheus in hoping that the Auto makers in Japan do go back to the day of the sports car. The current trend in the US may actually be turning to the better tho. Subaru is bringing it's WRC cars over, so maybe all is not lost Toyota is a hard call, they stopped shipping the Supra and now they are challenging Ford for SUV supremacy. Honda sort of the same the Odyssey is killing Dodges long time mini-van king. ,but they do have the S2000 (fun car to drive) and they have more ricer's than anyone else. Add to that their Acura line with NSX, a true sports car from Japan. Toyota could do the same with it's Lexus line and bring over the Lexus GT4000 (not a real name, just dreaming )As for our favorite, Nissan can do it with the Infinity line. The GT-S (or XVL) can compete against the Lexus G series and the GT-R can compete (and then some) with the NSX, they can keep the Z at the Nissan level. Our last hope may lay in the Japanese Auto makers. The American cars are aging and getting boring. What do we have left? Viper, Corvette, Mustang?! Anything else that can compete as a true sports car from the US? Help me out, cuz that's all the ones I can think of that are left. Man I just looked out my office window and saw another Stupid big Ford F350 being used as a daily commuter?! I could tell you where I work, but then you would have to kill me.:greenchai , but trust me on this. You do NOT need a truck for where I work. So why drive something that wastes gas and takes up 2 stalls!? Even worse someone actually uses an RV! WTF! OK I'm ranting sorry. Must go get some sugar free coke:apuke: Long live the Skyline:flash:

Here too
http://www.busybeetoys.com/scoop/scoop-edn31.htm Well maybe it'll grow on me as long as the preformance factor is still there. You can really see the Renault influnce in the new design. Till we get some better pictures I still stand by my first reaction. "Actually it looks like the Z Concept went doggy style on the Honda/Acura RS-X"

Sorry to burst your bubbles folks, the GTR will look nothing like that. It will be based off the XVL, and the pic you guys shown is a fake pic based off an R34 shot. It was discovered by a few folks at CF.com to be fake, and when I contacted Danny Ngan he confirmed it.

OK you lost me again D
I would be glad if that is not what the final R35 looks like. For the record: Nice ya, but NOT a Skyline body. Now can you tell me where you get the info about it being fake from? "CF.com"? and sorry don't know Danny Ngan, so if you could clarify that would be great. It looks (looks) a lot smaller than the R34 so how it's based off the R34 I'm not sure? If anyone has inside details, let us know

I have also seen confirmations throughout the web that those pictures were computer rendered images of the R34 (but that didnt stop me from enjoying them!). The bottom line is, according to the average rate that new models are released from Japanese automakers, it is still too soon to expect the R35; however that doesnt mean they are not working on it. Concepts are always being produced and at times, bits and pieces are leaked out into the public. So what you see out there may not be too far from the actual R35 when it is unveiled. Hopefully next time around Nissan will make much more technical improvements as the performance hasnt increased that noticeably since the R32 (still my personal favorite). Perhaps a V8 to compete with Toyota's upcoming large displacement Supra replacement? What did they call it? 4000GT? 4500GT? 5000GT? In any case, with Toyota and Honda releasing even higher performing upscale cars for the JTCC, Nissan will most likely NOT use the XVL design/technical platform for its next GT racer; The XVL will probably be its own car, especially for Infiniti, to fit right between the I30 and the G20 (or replace the G20 altogether); Infiniti needs something to compete against the Lexus IS300 and this is its likely answer. The REAL McCoy stateside? Rumors of its coming have been sprouting since Mitsubishi suggested it may sell the Lancer EVO series here to take on the WRX. For now we will have to suffice with the pricey Skylines imported by Motorex here in Southern California, which some of you may know about. I do not know where you all live, but if you can get down here, drop by Torrance and give them a visit if you really want a Skyline, legal to drive in the US. (Im still saving to buy my ~$40,000 used R32). Its quite refreshing to see GTRs rolling around here. You can contact them at (310) 224-5085, [email protected] http://www.skylinegtr.com

Just noticed something of interest?!
Check out: http://www.automotiveforums.com/vbul...1684#post21684 Look at this first post by Igor. Is it just me or does anyone else think that the new Altima is MORE like the XVL?! Specially at the C-pillar? Just me being hopeful that the XVL really has nothing to do with the Skyline
