Auto to Standard conversion/What do I need?

I found a mechanic that has a 2door cavalier that has an impact on the passenger side. My 97 sedan has a 3speed tranny with a blown reverse and I have been driving like that for a year. Im thinking a manual will be alot stronger. What will I need for the conversion?
