paint work

alright, over the winter a little bit of rust formed on my truck so im going to take care of it. im somewhat knowlegable on what to do but i just wana make sure im doing it right

heres what i know

-you sand down the paint till you hit bare metal
-then you put a coat of undercoat on
-then 5 coats of the color paint
-then a coat of topcoat

correct me if i am wrong in any way because i wana do this right, and if you have any tips or tricks i would love to know them

Generally speaking, correct. Technically speaking, its a lot more complicated.

At your request , I gave your questions a go in that thread gt mike posted , its very tecnical and if you want i could get even more tecnical but when it comes to fancy art and new car apinting mike has great advice on that i just know alot about metal finish and prep.
