Warm engine stuttering/stalling

I have a 2000 chevy s-10 4 cyl.standard transmission with only 38,000 miles on it. A few weeks ago, it suddenly started stalling/stuttering/not going at intersections. It seems to happen after I have been in stop and go traffic for a while. It never happens when the engine is cold. When it begins to happen, it usually starts by suddenly stalling. I restart it, and then either at that intersection, or the next (or both) when I push in the gas, it is like it is going to stall again, and that I am not getting enough gas to the engine. I pump the gas, and try to let up the clutch, but I have a hard time getting a steady gas flow, and so the car just jerks its way through the intersection. Often, the truck will do ok again after being stuck hellishly in the middle of a few busy intersections.
Today I noticed that while pushing in the clutch at a few intersections before the problem started up again, it was starting to rev itself slightly. Also, while the problem was occuring, I went to put on my hazards, and they would not flash, just stayed on. Today it was worse, but by the time my fiance tried driving it, it was fine again, and the hazard lights worked fine. I took it to midas who kept it for a couple of days, were unable to replicate the problem, put in a new battery and changed some fluids, charged me 400.00 and then I had the exact problem on the way home. Then I took it to a dealer who couldn't find anything, they kept it for a few days, but at least only charged me 35.00.
Does anyone have any ideas as to what could be causing this?

I am having the same problem with a 2001 Chevy S-10 4 cyl. that belongs to my boyfriend. This started happening to me last week. EXACTLY the way you wrote it. I am fine in the mornings on the freeway, but once I get off on an exit and try to stop and go through lights or at stop signs it stalls. And when I tried the hazards, they wouldn't work, just stayed on....no blinking. We changed the oil, the air filter, ran a performance fluid through the gas tank, and now I am looking at possibly replacing the fuel filter...If you find out what is causing this, please let me know...It's so frustrating.

well, we took it out and drove it for 20 miles on sunday. We did a lot of stop and go driving, and of course, couldn't get it to recreate the problem on demand. So, apparently, just to make it especially difficult to troubleshoot, it is a random problem.

Welcome to the party! I've been dealing with the same shit on and off for 3 years with my 2000. Still haven't figured it out!

Really need to know if you're losing spark or fuel. Go buy a fuel pressure guage. $20.00 - $40.00 at Harbor Freight Tools...$40 - $100 Auto Part Stores. Connect it to the fuel rail near the Throttle Body and run it between the hood and firewall onto the windshield and close the hood. Then drive your vehicle normally...when it acts up, do you lose fuel pressure or does it stay constant? After you have this info...we can continue.
