Question paint work

alright, over the winter a little bit of rust formed on my truck so im going to take care of it. im somewhat knowlegable on what to do but i just wana make sure im doing it right

heres what i know

-you sand down the paint till you hit bare metal
-then you put a coat of undercoat on
-then 5 coats of the color paint
-then a coat of topcoat

correct me if i am wrong in any way because i wana do this right, and if you have any tips or tricks i would love to know them

Sand till bare metal and remove the rust.Sand blast if rust is extreme.Then use a self etching primer.Then use a surface primer or a sealer(your choice).Then 2-3 coats of a top coat.Finish with 2-3 coats of clear.

Almost forgot,rustproof or undercoat the back side of the panel you just fixed.If you can't get to it,spray oil in there.Oil is a great rustproofing,cause it gets where the water gets inside door bottoms.
