Any fwd advantages?
I keep on reading thread after thread about the negativity of the 3000gt's SL/Base "fwd". If it's so bad, why did Mitsubishi choose fwd for the 3kgt sl/base? Are there any advantages whatsoever? I mean not that i care, bc 3000gt's are such great cars, but i'm just curious
 .

|
FWD is cheaper to build then RWD (no driveshaft or rear axle housing to build). FWD recudes the weight of the car (again, by the parts not being there). Aside from that, FWD can give a car better traction in slippery conditions.

Isnt the FWD model only available in the US? cause I think all the Japanese models are AWD. I believe the FWD was also built as an alternative for those who didnt want or couldnt afford the "Affordable Ferrari" (VR-4). Just like why the hell did they put an automatic in the RX-8? it lowers the HP to like 190. Some people like the looks but dont want the edge i guess. and I dont think anyone has been nagative towards the SL or base, its just that we are living in the shadow of the VR-4 but its not cause our cars suck, its just that the VR-4 is that much more amazing.
