Question security light

Does anybody know what to do about the security light on my 2000 s10?
It comes on intermittantly and sometimes when I try to start the truck it will flash and and the truck won't start..Does the security feature on these trucks have a module ? Or is it something to do with the ignition switch causing the problem? I have tried to find a repair manual for this subject , but keep coming up empty handed...

Not going to be much help, but I had a similar problem on my 2000, though it wasn't intermittant. Mine turned out to be a short in the ECM wiring harness, took the dealer 2 days to find it. Luckily it was a warranty repair! Best thing for manuals is the Helms manual (www.helminc.com). They're pricey (around 100-150) but they're the ones used at the dealer and have the most detailed instructions, troubleshooting, wiring diagrams, etc.
