Exclamation the perfect cooling system!

okay i have come to realize how truly vital proper operating temperature really is. so, my question this time is what components of my cooling system should i replace? AND where can i find them (what sites)?

keep in mind, i want QUALITY parts not stupid shit that people buy when they don't know anything about their cars, lol. also that i plan on A LOT of mods after i know for sure that the engine is strong and fit, so when u give me advice think like i have more power, because i will very soon. (if hp even makes that big of a difference with this subject)

Re: the perfect cooling system!

a bigger rad
clean emission stuff from under the hood, it will allow more fresh air
a T2 hood does help too

FD oil cooler at the extreme
are you planning to go turbo ? then look for the V-mounts fro rotary extreme, they have FD oil cooler upgrades as well

Re: the perfect cooling system!

not turbo..but nitrous. with my car i ended up with an extra 13b, lol. so i want to take it apart learn it and build it up for nitrous. 250+ shot if possible...i already know exactly how i want that set-up though. i'm just not one of the posers in our world that goes straight to nitrous with an engine that has 150k+ miles on it! i'm doing it all THE RIGHT WAY, no matter how long it takes. it's worth it for me that way.......
i've heard a few things about FD accessories being used on FC's. what can and can't we use from them? and what we can use, is it worth getting?

Re: the perfect cooling system!

FD oil cooler like he said... I have seen on some D1 rx-7 they had dual oil coolers(one under each headlight) but you'd have to do a headlight conversion to fit those, and I don't think anyone acctually sells them.

koyo radiator would be my advice, they are quality and as good a price as your gonna find for a top end radiator

now on the subject of stuff from FC's, you can use the fuel pump and alternator for upgrades on each of those items

I know what your saying about nitrous, its associated with ricers a lot but it really is a great product to use on a car that is built enough to handle it... anyways just do whats been listed so far and you should be set for cooling

Re: the perfect cooling system!

well i figured while i have it apart i could send it out for a port job...but what are my options besides fuel injection? i don't want carbs..so if that's all there is then yes, i will stay with my fi.

Re: the perfect cooling system!

you basiquely have to choose between a carb or a EMS to exploit the new port configuration of your engine (if it gets ported).

you plan on running with haltech or something ?

what nitrous setup are you looking at ?
2 stage direct port ? :P

Re: the perfect cooling system!

expand on ems...... haltech was my first thought. what do u think?
also, i wasn't aware there were stages to direct porting. i just thought there was dry, wet, and direct-port. anything over 125 with a rotary and direct-port is a must. so fill me in sir! i am eager to learn.

Re: the perfect cooling system!

also, instead of a t2 hood, cause i'm not a fan of them.... would the headlight "scoop" be affective at all?

Re: the perfect cooling system!

its ok without T2 hood, im not a fan either, in fact i'd buy an n/a hood and go fmic if i had a T2

anyway, the difference between stages is just the quantity of nitrous you shoot into the engine
lets say :
stage 1 : 110 shots
stage 2 : 250 shots

when you floor it, the nitrous gets on
you'd spin too much with a 250 shot bellow lets say 5k, so u use a smaller amount of nitrous on takeoffs

someone correct me if im wrong ! im not a nos expert.

i also think the haltech is a good way to stay in control of you engine and nitrous. but you might wanna check if someone can tune it near you. the system cost from 800$ to 1500$, there is cheaper product, but its what i'd use if i had to get an EMS

That radiator will run you about $500. Its at K2RD.com.

My other mod is a black magic 150 fan.

hmm.. i guess if you're looking to get power + cooler temps.. and sticking with NA.. hmmm...

- large alum rad (K2RD, Griffin, KOYO, etc..)
- Electric fan (black magic, flex-a-lite)
- remove emissions, a/c, p/s, air pump, rats nest
- dual alternator pulley
- remove OMP and run pre-mix? maybe..
- full exhaust
- 89+ rotors
- some kind of porting (street, mild, PP, anything..)
- 89+ intake manifolds (larger ports for more air)
- aqua mist (some sort of water injection)
- aftermarket oil cooler (if you have the funds)

i think that covers most of it. there are different opinions going around about using R1 FD3S oil coolers. Yes, they've been used on TIIs successfully but also there have been oil pressure problems. The oil feed and return lines are really long leading to low oil pressure. Plus, have you seen the size of the FD oil coolers? I'm not sure why I'd switch my TII oil cooler for FD ones. The only reason I would see to switch to FD oil coolers if you were running a FMIC, which blocks air to the stock FC3S oil cooler. But you're not a TII, so you shouldn't be worrying about it.
