Rear rotors shot at 50K miles - did we get ripped off?
We took our 2001 Rodeo in to Monro for a brake check and oil change and they told us we need all 4 ceramic pads replaced plus the rear rotors were shot from environmental corrosion (rust) but the front rotors were fine. Of course fearing the worst, we decided to let them proceed, to the tune of $700 (don't laugh). The rotors alone were $150 each! (That seems outrageous to me, is it?) The front pads cost about $120/set and the rear pads were $85 I think, plus about $130 in labor. He said the pads were so high because they were by Aki-Bono (sp?), apparently the top of the line maker worldwide. The guy couldn't explain how the rear rotors could be terrible and the front ones fine, and this is bugging me. Anyone have any clues? Were were fleeced big time? Of course, we did supposedly get the lifetime replacement warranty, but I have to go back there to see about that today because they conveniently failed to put that in writing. THANK YOU IN ADVANCE for any comments/insights.
